Democratic Club of Phelps County

Club Events

There is usually a lot going on with the Democratic Club of Phelps County.  While we are scheduling our activities again, we are being very watchful of the COVID situation and will adjust our schedule when that is the prudent thing to do.  But the future looks good and, in general, here's what we can look forward to:

  • Five regular Club Meetings each year (September, November, January, March and May)
  • Two Special Events each year (July "Stump Picnic" and December "Holiday Dinner")
  • Public Forums on topical subjects (past topics have included discussions on Income Inequality, Climate Issues, and Redistricting)
  • Helping out with Club Fundraising:
    • the Silent Auction at our Holiday Dinner
    • the Garage/Rummage Sale
    • T Shirt  sales
There's always something fun and interesting to plan, prepare for, and enjoy!

A Walk Down Memory Lane ...

The Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade held in Rolla is an excellent opportunity to showcase the Club and our candidates (and to give out lots of candy and Marti Gras beads to little - and big - children).

Advertising for the 2013 Stump Picnic, which was held on July 13, gives a good idea of the activities and fun of the event.  The event is held each year on the Saturday AFTER the 4th of July.

Friends gathered at previous Stump picnics to enjoy the entertainment, food, and "stump" speeches from those running for office.

The Holiday Dinner is an annual gala event held at Oak Meadow Country Club.  It is a fun event with an excellent dinner buffet, our annual Silent Auction, and encouraging words from knowledgeable guest speakers.

   Halloween Fun!

On November 13, 2019, Kathy Ellis hosted a Community Forum in Rolla, leading a discussion on problems with income inequality in our area.
